1. Choose a plain lamp shade with a neutral color. We used a cream colored shade for ours.
2. Make a template for you lamp shade by tracing the contour of the lamp shade. To do this place the shade on a sheet of paper and roll the shade, tracing the edges as you roll the lamp from seam to seam.
3. Take your template and transfer it to a full sheet of Extra Strength Double-Sided Tape.
4. Remove one side of the protective covering off of the sheet of adhesive paper.
5. Carefully place the adhesive paper on the lamp shade and burnish it gently to the shade surface, wrapping the paper around it.
6. Remove the outside layer of the protective covering and wrap the top and the bottom of the shade with your coordinating ribbon.
7. Begin placing various buttons randomly on the shade.
8. When you are happy with the arrangement of the buttons, start pouring on the clear beads. * A hint of caution, do this over something (i.e., a paper plate or brown bag) that can catch the many falling beads.
9. After the lamp shade is covered in clear beads begin pouring on the gold micro beads. This will fill in the very small places the clear beads missed and add a little color.
10. Set the shade aside to begin decorating the base.
11. Starting at the very bottom of straight part of the lamp, put a dab of hot glue and start winding the ribbon up the base.
12. When you get to the top make an extra pass around the top to make sure the base is totally covered.
13. Secure the ribbon at the top using a dab of hot glue or extra tacky glue.
