This is a great way to show your witchy ways at Halloween. It also makes a great gift for the holiday!
Design By Maria O'Neill
1. Form a 3/4” flesh colored ball. Flatten the ball between 2 sheets of parchment paper.
2. Roll a 1 1/8” ball of orange clay through a clay press or a garlic press. Arrange it on and around the flattened piece of clay. This forms the hair.
3. With your flat blade or a utility knife carefully cut off the top part of the head.
4. Combine a 7/8” ball of silver and a 1” ball of black to make the dark silver for the hat.
5. On the second largest setting on the pasta machine roll out two sheets of the silver clay. Cut out two identical hats and sandwich them together. Or just roll out one, 3/8” hat.
6. To add detail to the hat you can use a needle tool or a wheel tracer. Don’t forget to add some creases in the bent area.
7. Make a 3/8” ball of yellow and press it into a flat circle. Using a medium sized heart cutter make the shape of a crescent moon. Place it on the peak of the hat. You are now ready to join it with the head.
8. For the face, add eyes by pushing the small end of a stylus into the clay. For the nose use a 3/16” ball of flesh and shape it to a blunt point. After placing the nose onto the face use chalk to accent the cheeks.
9. Bake at manufacturer’s specifications.
10. Wait for the piece to cool completely then cover the piece in brown acrylic paint. Wipe off quickly with a wet wipe (baby wipes work really well). This creates a nice antique finish.
11.After the paint dries fasten the pin back to the witch using a strong permanent glue. When the glue dries you are ready to parade about town!
